Congestive Heart Failure in Dogs

Dogs are at risk for a many ailments, but one of the most dangerous is Congestive Heart Failure (CHF).  There are few symptoms, but a cough or difficulty breathing may be a sign.  Discuss any unusual coughing or breathing problems with your veterinarian.  He can do some testing that may diagnose a very serious condition. .

Cindy standing guard

This is one of my favorite pictures, Cindy standing in front of the garage, watching the neighborhood.  As if she was standing guard.  She would, and just waited for anyone to come by so she could get a pet.  A real sweetheart.

Cindy's Visit to the Bishop of Raleigh

Here she is, getting blessed by the Bishop.  She was always a good girl and never minded a little friendly pet.

Yorkie Dressed Up for a Party

Cindy got all dressed for a Yorkie party!  It was held at Petco.  Unfortunately, it was raining and we know how prissy some Yorkies can be, so only Cindy and one other Yorkie showed up.

Still, she had a good time in her matching outfit and bow (the dots are reversed colors).  A bit scared by all the noise from the other dogs.  She didn't really take to Brutus, the other Yorkie, but enjoyed meeting his mom, and all the other very nice Petco employees and the rep from Royal Canin, who sponsored the event.

Apple Treats

One of Cinderella's favorite treats is the Apple Chicken wrap.  See photo. She loves it, and will carry it around for a while before she eats it.  It's funny, they are kind of hard for her to eat with her small mouth, so she will drop it at our feet and demand that we tear it apart so it's easier for her.

We ask her what kind of treat she wants, and if we say "Apple" she gets all excited.  I think she does equate this favorite treat with the word.  We thought it was maybe just the way we were saying it.  But, one day I was watching the football playoffs, when her mom asked who was playing.  I said Indianapolis and Cindy's head flew around and looked at me.

I said it again and we realized that when I said Indianapolis, she heard Indian-Apple-lis.  So now we have to be careful not to get her too excited.  Fortunately, football season is over.
